Dawn to Dusk 2013 – An event to raise funds for “Bal Sanjeevani” Cerebral Palsy Rehab Centre for God’s Own Children.
On behalf of President and Members of Rotary Club of Ambattur, Committee Members of Bal Sanjeevani, first and foremost, I wish to thank His Excellency Dr. K.Rosaiah, the Governor of Tamil Nadu for accepting our invitation to flag-off the Dawn to Dusk - 2013 event. I also wish to thank Prof. Dr. Bhaskar Ramamurthy, Director IIT Madras, who was kind enough to allow us to run the event at IIT.
There are so many people that I would like to thank from bottom of my heart for all their support for the Dawn to Dusk 2013!!! I would like to thank Saarang 2013, Chennai Runners, Dream Runners, Cool Runners, Tamil Nadu Cycling Club, Chennai Trekking Club, Radisson Blu, Round Table India, Rotary Club of Ambattur, IIT Madras, MCRT94, MMRT 42, Madras Boat Club, Sparrc Institute, Veloscope, 108, Freshwater, Eventjini, Rework, Show Space, Anil Srinivasan, Sikkil Gurucharan, Biswajit Balasubramaniam, Students of Hindustan University and many other individual running friends who have contributed by taking part in this event.
I also wish to thank Prof. Dr.S.Ravisubramaniam, Chairman-Bal Sanjeevani, Uncle Sukumaran and their Committee members for giving me an opportunity to facilitate and raise funds for the Cerebral Palsy affected Children of Bal Sanjeevani.
The event was flagged-off by His Excellency the Governor of Tamil Nadu at 9.45 am, for first 6 hours ran with friends from Chennai Runners, Dream Runners, Cool Runners, Chennai Trekking Club. I would like to thank Bala Aiyer, Sreekumar, Ashok Daniel, Rajagopal Haridoss and Vishwanath who ran with me throughout the 6 hours giving me company and had many other running friends running with me at different parts of the hour.
We had an amazing turnout of almost 800 plus people at the IIT campus to support the event. We had amazing participation from the children – 185 kids participating with the family.
Three cheers to the entire volunteer group led by Shankar Lal M Patel, Shahul Hameed and Imran Pasha!!! These Gentlemen worked so hard in executing this event so well. All praises must go to these gentlemen. Also, they did an amazing job on the hydration part, I must say the team Dream Runners went out of the way to come with the family and supported the runners who came with so much energy to support Dawn to Dusk and were there till the last minute to help with the hydration. In fact the volunteers’ team are the true champions who had literally sweat in the sun waiting for the runners to pass by and helped with the hydration.
I was so impressed with the way they mixed Gatorade, cut the fruits, had salt and lime which were so refreshing each time I passed through the hydration stations. I would like to honour each one of them individually for their efforts put in at the hydration points at the IIT campus. THANK YOU so much DREAM RUNNERS for your kind contribution.
Dawn to Dusk was more blessed to have many good souls to contribute to this event. One more good soul from Dream Runners who worked tirelessly, Ali Nawaz who went out of his way to helped me in placing the order for medals and also helped for the water sponsorship. The other blessing was again from Dream Runners, Swaminathan, Woodpecker who became our main sponsor and it was great to see Mr. Swaminathan and his entire family to support the event.
Three cheers to the entire team of Dream Runners from the bottom of my heart. You people deserve a special appreciation and I have no words to thank you all for your time and effort for this noble cause!!!
Thank you, Durai Murugan, Thilak Raj, Rakesh Chandrasekar, Vadivel, Punitha, Kumaravel for your kind support and the entire team of volunteers who came in big numbers – 75 plus volunteers from the Chennai Trekking Club to support the Kid’s Run. We had almost 185 plus registrations for the Kid’s Run. Thank you so much team for your effort and contribution for the good cause. Again thank you Shankar Lal M Patel, Shahul Hameed and Imran for co-ordinating.
Also, like to thank Manivannan and his team who took care of the medal distribution and also was a helping hand in conducting the event. Wish to thank Krishnakumar and his team who took care of the Spot registrations and was a helping hand toward conducting the event.
Sparrch Institute – I would like to thank Dr. Kannan Pughazhendi and his team for their support in helping the runners and cyclists on the date of the event. Also, wish to thank Franklin for all his efforts shown along with his team.
The cycling event turned out more bigger than expected and we had 138 cyclists registering for Neville’s Dawn to Dusk 2013!!! The complete Cycling event was supported by Tamil Nadu Cycling Club (TCC), Three cheers to the entire cycling fraternity!!! My special thanks go to: Vasanth Ramasamy, Samir Singla, Venkatraman, Rajaram, Gopi, Suresh and many others who have come forward to help and make the cycling event, an event to remember. The Cycling event went-off well. The hydration team from TCC did an amazing job again in supplying the water and other refreshments, which helped many of us. THANK YOU to the Volunteers whose effort is again much appreciated !!!
The cycling event was flagged-off at 3.45 pm by Mr. Sudhakar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Adyar Range, Chennai, Prof Dr. Bhaskar Ramamurthy, Director-IIT, and Mr. Karun Chandhok, India’s Ace F1 Driver & Brand Ambassador-TI Cycles.
Mr. Naren Nayar, IPS, ADC to His Excellency Governor, such a fine officer, he went out of the way to help us with permissions and guiding us with the protocol requirements, also he was there to ride with us for the next 6 hours.
SAM’S KITCHEN, I will be failing to thank Mr. Samir Singla and Ms. Gunit Singla for their support for the morning breakfast and lunch for the volunteers. Everybody appreciated their efforts in providing a quality meal. Thank you so much!!!
Veloscope, Sports photographers had come all the way from Bangalore to cover the event – Running, Cycling and Radisson Blu Night. Thank you team Veloscope for being with us and taking pictures. I would like to thank each individual running participants, children and cyclists who took time to be a part of this event.
Radisson Blu Hotel GRT Chennai in association with Dawn to Dusk 2013 presented “MUSIC FOR THE EYES“, A musical evening with Black-tie sit-down dinner in aid of Bal Sanjeevani Cerebral Palsy Rehabilitation Centre to raise funds for God’s Own Children. Radisson Blu Night’s entire dinner proceed goes to Bal Sanjeevani.
The evening’s audience were enthralled by Mr. Anil Srinivasan, Pianist and Mr. Sikkil Gurucharan, Carnatic Singer, the donors enjoyed the evening. Later, Mr. Biswajit Balasubramaniam, Cartoonist pictures were auctioned and again the funds raised from the auction proceed goes to Bal Sanjeevani.
Thank you so much, Anil Srinivasan, Sikkil. C. Gurucharan, Biswajit Balasubramaniam for your support. I would also like to thank Vijay Prabhat and Imran Pasha, who were instrumental from start to finish towards helping in conducting the Radisson Blu Night.
My words run out again for the contribution that has come from Radisson Blu Hotel GRT Chennai and would like to thank Mr. Vikram Cotah, Senior Vice-President and Ms. Priya Batra, Director-Sales, for their kind hearted support in raising funds for the God’s Own Children. They went out of their way to make the Dawn to Dusk 2013 to be remembered by all. Thank you all from bottom of my heart towards your support for this event!!!

I think it is easier to run and cycle than to conduct an event… J Three Cheers to all of you who have been a part of Dawn to Dusk 2013!!!
The ‘Dawn to Dusk 2013’ is to be held on Sunday, 13th January, 2013: Neville has come forward to raise funds through this 12 hour event. The funds raised are to go towards “Bal Sanjeevani” project that provides therapy services and facilities that aid babies and children affected by Cerebral Palsy coming from low income groups. The therapy that are provided by Bal Sanjeevani is free of cost to these children affected by Cerebral Palsy.
The funds raised from Dawn to Dusk will help Bal Sanjeevani to meet some of their immediate needs, such as Splints, wheelchairs, and other walking-aids, and appoint more qualified therapists, speech and occupational therapists, Botox injections and most importantly Therasuits. Therasuit is a soft dynamic proprioceptive orthotic that is worn by the children with spasticity and is generally designed for astronauts provides stability. Therasuit helps the posture of the cerebral palsy affected child, which is widely used in USA & Europe now.
We look forward to your support to this noble cause and your generous contribution to this movement will help our mission to give new lease of life to those differently abled children with hope and enthusiasm.

The running session will be flagged-off at 9.30 am. Neville will be joined in the first 10 km of the running phase by Members of Saarang 2013 - Students of IIT, along with more IIT students.
Running session will conclude at 3.30 pm and the cycling phase of the event will commence. More bicycle riders are expected to join Neville this time along with the Tamil Nadu Cycling Club (TCC) and the Cycling community from IIT Campus. The ride will stretch all the way past Mahabalipuram and there will be a turn-around to return back to finish the event. The Cycling will culminate at 9.30 pm at the Radisson Blu Hotel, St.Thomas Mount. The Cycling event is fully supported by Tamil Nadu Cycling Club (TCC).
KIDS RUN - Dawn to Dusk is also happy to present Kids Run, which will also be flagged-off at 9.30 am. The run will have two categories: For children below 12 years: 2 kms / 1 km / 500 mts; For children above 12 years: 4 kms. For more details on Kids Run please visit the registration page for running. The Kid’s run is fully supported by Chennai Trekking Club (CTC).
Register 10km/21km: One can also register for 10 KMs or 21 KMs to take part at the Dawn to Dusk event.

Neville and his teammates will be covering nearly more than 150km during the 12 hour period, from 9.30 am to 9.30 pm.
